Chetan Bhagat receives an email from a stranger who claims to be taking a sleeping pill for every full stop he puts while writing the email. The hunt for that stranger leads our author to Govind, and he makes sure the stranger is provided with the required medical help. As Govind explains the reason for his suicide attempt, Chetan Bhagat knows this is going to be one of his books (why!).
The story talks about three friends – Govind, Omi and Ishan. (Don’t ask me about the writer’s fascination for 3 people). They have been friends since childhood and start a business together. Govind’s only aim is to make money as his childhood hasn’t been a pleasant one with his father leaving his mother. Ishan believes in encouraging the interest of the youth in the game of cricket through their business. While Omi is just in it to be with his friends.
Ishan meets Ali who does a good job at the game but still needs to learn a few tactics and requires ample practice. Thus, the 3 friends decide to undertake all that is required for his training. Omi’s uncle is into politics and he is on the mission to convert every youth into fighters for their religion. Hindus against the Muslims. Ishan gets to know about Govind’s affair with his sister – and he is in no mood to forgive them.
Twists and turns, and a series of incidents drives Govind to make the 3 mistakes in his life which leads him to his death bed. Are those mistakes in reality so big to lead you to end your life? I guess it was just a way to build up the curiosity amongst readers. I would give it a 2/5.
